Maggie Hyde- Mural Sketches and Project Proposal

Proposal for the Next Project:

On the upcoming project, I would like to create a set of at least 3-5 characters set in the present day based on famous philosophers/great thinkers of the relatively modern canon. I will also create poster art for the game that I would propose the characters to play in. This game would use our past great thinkers to help solve and fight the modern phenomena of the present (ie: politics/society/etc..) in a manor that is between solving a mystery and a typical 'fight em' game.  An inspiration for the story as well is 'Zero Time Dilemmna' in it's complexity in thought, and I will write a similar short synopsis to 'introduce' people to the game. The work will all be done in line-work on tracing paper of various colors and patterns. The concept/game/characters should  appeal to a wide range of ages, though the starting age should be at most be 13.

Nov 21: Sketches of the character designs, sketches (x2) of the poster, short synopsis of the story intro

Dec 5: Finals of the characters, poster, and short intro

Maggie Hyde- Elephant Final Piece

This is the process and the final digital photographs of my Elephant Sculpture. The Sculpture is free-standing and baked, and thus will also be brought in, along with the two polaroid final photographs as well. (These two photographs will be also scanned in if need be in the near future.)

Maggie Hyde- When Elephants Come into our Dreams Sketches/Proposal:

Proposal:

When returning back to my thoughts upon the nature of elephants, the first inclination I had was purely based on the familial element in their nature, as well as the sad truths of the poaching that occurs in Africa of said elephants. In the end the proposal that I took in hand is one portraying the elephant as a caring, loving, and fun creature, but also one that has the potential to be lost within history (essentially a living artifact to preserve). The process will be one of using sculpted clay in a small armature scene containing at most three elephants. Colors in the sculpting process will be limited to white/pearl/grey/pink. Afterwards, I will lay a painted layer over the clay, and the colors will expand to further greys/pinks/blue/orange (yellow). The size will be roughly (8/10in x 10/12in x 4/6in), as size may change when I have to add/remove elements to change stability or elaborate further on the idea. Finally, the elephant will be photographed in color (digital) as well as black and white film (photo). The backgrounds in the photographs will be blank spaces and natural environments that are cohesive with the tone of the sculpture.

Below are the reference photos that I mainly used for the first step of this process:
