Stuey - New Yorker Final

My New Yorker cover of Devon. Done in graphite, colored pencil, and chalk pastel.

Born into a military family, Devon always thought she would carry on the family tradition; Her surname, Bragg, echoes with power, carrying the history and recounting the lives of noble servicemen and women. Although she maintains the love for this heritage through her collection of antique weaponry, Devon’s artistic journey alone exudes the same amount of strength and courage her relatives and ancestors possessed when joining the service. Success brimming already through her holiday and greeting card business, she shows extreme talent and promise in illustrating. Sitting down and talking to her about her past and future reveals a willingness to put others before herself - this quality is immediately evident in the relationship between her and her horse, Gizmo, who she loves so dearly. She is organized and courteous, and beautiful and powerful. Most importantly, Devon actively embraces all of this - she does not shy away from her own persona, rather embracing and enveloping others in her loving demeanor and actively finding hobbies that pique her interests.

Though her familial roots in Columbia, Maryland seem to be fairly close to MICA, Devon’s aspirations and love for others are boundless.
